When it comes to feeling alone, you are not alone in that thought. It might surprise you but there have been times when I've felt the same way that you do. We are taught to "man up" and "get over it."

It seems to have gotten much worse since the coronavirus began. In fact, a recent study shows has that men are becoming even more isolated. The amount of men with at least six close friends has fallen in the last several years from 55% to 27%

The same study also found that the percentage of men without any close friends went from 3% to 15% which is a five-time increase and that's not good. Men's Health has come up with some ways to help you feel better about yourself and feel less lonely.

Appraise Your Pessimism Level

Take a few minutes every day to write down your thoughts. Don't analyze it, just write it down. This will help you to become aware of your negative thought patterns. You can't change something if you don't know what it is.

Rethink The Repercussions

If things don't seem to be going your way, think about all of the positive outcomes that could come from it. If you lose your job, think of it as an opportunity to find a better job.

Snap Out Of It...Literally

I've done this and it worked for me. Put a rubber band around your wrist and you feel like that you're putting yourself down or having negative thoughts, snap the band. Apparently, the small dose of pain makes you more aware of your thought patterns and you can change them.

Obviously, if you are feeling bouts of depression and you think that you have nowhere to turn, find a professional that you can talk to. There is someone that will miss you greatly if you're not around.
