It's the final week of October and for many people, that means we are one step closer to the end of 2020. I remember when the same people couldn't wait till the end of 2019 and we saw how that turned out. Like the saying goes "Be careful about what you wish for because you just might get it."

I look at today being one step closer to Halloween. It's obviously going to be different this year because of the coronavirus pandemic. In other ways, Halloween is the perfect holiday for 2020 because it follows the COVID-19 guidelines and we get a full Halloween moon on Saturday night.

I'm declaring this Halloween week and today, October 26th we'll start with National Pumpkin Day. Did you know that pumpkins were once recommended for removing freckles and snakebites? Here's another one: Some Indians used pumpkins as a doormat and they would come in white, blue, and green.

There's your pumpkin knowledge, now time for some pumpkin jokes to impress your friends:

How do you fix a broken jack-o-lantern? Get a pumpkin patch.

What is a pumpkin's favorite sport? Squash.

Why was Cinderella bad at football? Because she had a pumpkin for a coach.

Who helped the mini pumpkin cross the road? The crossing gourd.

Finally, I'll leave you with this on National Pumpkin Day: For 2020, purple is the new orange when it comes to pumpkins. This year, you are being asked to leave a purple pumpkin outside of your home to let everyone know that you'll be handing out candy to trick-or-treaters. Find out what else it means here.
