Troopers say they were called to the Church of Christ Uniting in the Village of Richfield Springs after officials discovered $2,500 in Price Chopper gift cards had been stolen on December 1 or perhaps few days earlier.

Church members noticed an emergency exit door had been pried open but it’s not certain that was the way the burglar got into the church.

The gift cards were to be distributed by the church and the food pantry to assist local families struggling with hunger.

Anyone with information or who saw anyone suspicious in the area of near the church on Church Street in Richfield Springs or anyone noticing someone attempting to sell Price Chopper gift cards is asked to contact New York State Police at (607) 561-7400.
