As families across the Southern Tier face uncertainty with food assistance benefits still on hold, Market 32 and Price Chopper are stepping in to help. The grocery chain has announced new discounts, donation drives, and partnerships aimed at making sure local families can still put meals on the table.

Helping Families Stretch Their Food Budgets

Market 32 and Price Chopper have rolled out special savings on some of the most common grocery items that families buy every week. Customers can find big discounts on things like eggs, pasta, chicken, cereal, and produce. Many deals even include buy-one-get-one offers to help stretch food budgets a little further.

These discounts come at a time when food costs are still high, and for families in Broome, Tioga, and Chemung Counties, every dollar matters. The stores are also continuing to support programs that let customers use certain health benefit cards for healthy groceries, which helps those living on tight incomes.

Donations to Local Food Pantries and Food Banks

To get food quickly into the hands of those who need it, every Market 32 and Price Chopper including those in Johnson City, Vestal, and Endicott are taking part in the Fill a Plate with Hope for the Holidays drive.

Shoppers can purchase a $10 pre-packed bag of essential food items, and each one will be donated directly to a food bank or pantry in that store’s local community. For every four bags donated by customers, the company will give a fifth one up to 10,000 bags total.

The stores are also speeding up deliveries of donated food so that shelves at area pantries can stay stocked. The company’s Fresh Recovery program, which donates fresh food that’s still good to eat but can’t be sold, has already provided millions of meals.

In addition, Market 32 and Price Chopper have made a financial donation to the United Way’s Government Shutdown Relief Fund, which is helping families in Upstate New York who are struggling with the pause in SNAP benefits.

Community Support That Hits Close to Home

Market 32 and Price Chopper’s latest efforts bring some much needed relief and show what can happen when local businesses, farmers, and neighbors come together to take care of one another.
