Turning Pennies into Plenty at Price Chopper on Sunday
If you’ve got jars or bags full of pennies sitting around the house, you might want to grab them soon. Price Chopper is giving shoppers a fun reason to cash them in and get double the value in return.
Double Exchange Day Happens November 16th
On Sunday, November 16th, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., every Price Chopper store will have a special event called Double Exchange Day. For one day only, your pennies will be worth twice as much when you exchange them for a Market 32 or Price Chopper gift card. If you bring in $10 worth of pennies, you’ll walk away with a $20 gift card to use on your next shopping trip.
How to Take Part
Bring your rolled or loose pennies to the Customer Service Desk at your local store. The staff will count them and give you a gift card on the spot that’s double your total amount. Exchanges must be at least 50 cents (earning a $1 gift card) and no more than $100 (earning a $200 gift card).

Why the Penny Matters
The U.S. Treasury plans to stop making pennies in 2026, and that’s already causing a shortage of coins in circulation. Many retailers, including Market 32 and Price Chopper, are finding it harder to give exact change for cash transactions. By turning in your pennies, you’ll help keep local stores running smoothly and make cash payments easier for everyone.
A Message from the Company
“Cash transactions are still an important part of how we serve our customers,” said Blaine Bringhurst, president of Market 32 and Price Chopper. “Double Exchange Day lets our shoppers help us manage our coin supply while being rewarded for their support. We know times are tough for many families right now, and this is one more way we’re trying to help.”
