In only it's second year, the Modified Summer Slam has become a huge success at Five Mile Point Speedway (FMP) in Kirkwood.

Sunday is the third race of the series. It's a 30 lap Modified feature event that pays $2,500 to the race winner. The program was put together last season by track owner Andrew Harpell for weekend Modified stars and the real winners are the fans.

Track regulars Mike Colsten and Nick Rochinski are currently tied for the Modified Summer Slam point lead with 2016 Modified Summer Slam Co-Champion Brad Szulewski third in the point standings

A full program of racing will be on tap. Besides the Modifieds, they will be joined by all of the weekly FMP divisions. All races will be a non-handicapped “draw/redraw” format for starting position.

As always, kids 12 and younger are admitted FREE. Pit gates open at 3 pm with grandstand gates opening at 4 pm. Hot laps are at 5 pm with racing beginning at 6 pm.

As they say," it's not racing until there is dirt in your beer." and the dirt will be flying on Sunday.
