Several Emergency Activation System warnings rapidly went out in the evening where storms packed strong wind and heavy rain, particularly in Chenango and Cortland Counties and other areas of Central New York to the north of the Greater Binghamton area.

Tornado Watches were even issued for some parts of Central New York

New York State Electric and Gas had reported hundreds of customers without power at one point, but that had dwindled down to less than 1,000 spread over less than a dozen counties early August 16.

In Greene, NYSEG reported at 6 a.m. over two-dozen customers still without power with restoration of service not expected until 9 a.m.

While flash flood watches were also issued during the immediate aftermath of the storms, there have been no reports of serious damage.
