The Salvation Army is officially opening the doors to their new location in Binghamton on Walnut Street, and community leaders from across the area are expected to attend the celebration.

The New Location Will Help Expand Services

The organization says the move to Walnut Street puts them right in the heart of the city and will allow them to better serve people who need help the most. Captain Joseph Hansen says the new building will create more opportunities to expand food services and hopefully grow their youth programming in the future.

Community Leaders Will Be There

The dedication ceremony and open house are scheduled for Wednesday, May 13th at 1 p.m. at 86 Walnut Street. Several local leaders and community partners are expected to attend, including representatives from Broome County, the City of Binghamton, United Way, and Salvation Army leadership from across New York.

Guests Can Tour the Building

Following formal remarks, guests will be invited to tour the new facility and enjoy some refreshments. The Salvation Army says the new location represents an important step forward in continuing its mission to provide food, shelter, emergency assistance, and support services to families throughout the community.
