It's been around for over 125 years. It's the Salvation Army Red Kettle Kick-Off celebration and this year it's on my birthday. On November 3rd, I'm inviting you to join me at the Salvation Army, 131 Washington Street in Binghamton.

They have represented the Christmas and compassion to those in need around the world since 1890. Last year the funds donated to Broome County Red Kettles helped 60,000 people in need.

The Salvation Army of Binghamton served over 31,000 meals, gave out toys and Christmas gifts to 226 families and over 500 children. This event helped to send 22 kids to a week long summer camp, and provide other emergency and family services.

I'll be the emcee, as we ring the first bells of Christmas. The Red Kettle Campaign has had a positive impact on our community and I can also say that it's had a positive effect with our family.

In the past, we participated in the ringing of the bells at the Oakdale Mall and Tara brought her flute to play. She hopes to do that again.

On Friday, it's a chance to sign up to "Ring The Bell." You can choose an Angel Tree Tag and buy a Red Kettle Season pass. Refreshments will be available and facility tours will be offered.

Do want to sign up to Ring The Bell but can't make it this morning? Great news, go here to sign up right now. I'm truly honored to help with the First drop in the bucket.

The kick-off campaign and celebration begins at 10 am.
