The Rumble Ponies suffered a 5-1 loss on July 30 against the SeaWolves. As the month drew to a close, Binghamton hoped to sweep Erie in the double-header to end July on a high note.

It was the bottom of the second when Andres Gimenez hit a solo home run to right-center field. This put the first run on the board for Binghamton, giving them the early lead.

The bottom of the fourth was when the Rumble Ponies turned up the heat. First, Barrett Barnes scored on a sac fly from David Thompson. Next, Gavin Cecchini and his RBI single brought home Patrick Mazeika. Then, Will Toffey doubled to left, allowing Cecchini and Mazeika to cross home plate. Lastly, Toffey helped attain another run thanks to the double from Quinn Brodey. In total, Binghamton racked up five runs in the inning to lead 6-0.

Erie would mount a small comeback in the top of the seventh. Kody Eaves scored on an RBI single from Chace Numata followed by a run from Sergio Alcantara thanks to a Derek Hill double. Finally, Numata crosses home of the ground out from Issac Paredes.

Ultimately, it was too little too late for the SeaWolves as the Rumble Ponies take game one by a final score of 6-3.  After taking the first game, Binghamton was hoping for more of the same in the second game.

This time, it would be the SeaWolves striking first. It all started with the top of the second inning. Eaves would score off the ground out from Joey Morgan. Later, Hill singled to bring in Alcantara and Josh Lester. Erie would lead 3-0 after two.

That would be all she wrote as Binghamton would fail to score a run in the second game, falling by a final score of 3-0. A split of the doubleheader leaves the Rumble Ponies with a 56-51 record overall. They will look to do better as the calendar moves into August. The series finale will be held at NYSEG Stadium on August 1 at 6:35 P.M.
