With two Major League Baseball teams, one Minor League team, and six Division 1 college programs, New York is packed with baseball pride from the Bronx to Brooklyn.

Home of the Yankees and Mets

New York’s baseball dominance starts with its MLB powerhouses — the Yankees and the Mets. The Yankees have 27 World Series titles under their belts, giving the city the most championships of any in the country.

The Mets have brought home two titles of their own and a loyal fan base that fills Citi Field all summer long. The teams have a combined value of nearly $9 billion, with the Yankees topping $8 billion and the Mets worth over $3 billion.

Baseball on a Budget

If you don’t want to spend hundreds on MLB tickets, you were in luck. New York has plenty of ways to enjoy baseball without emptying your wallet. The Brooklyn Cyclones, a Minor League team, offer affordable fun with all the classic ballpark vibes. And if you’re into college baseball, New York has more Division 1 teams than any other city in the country.

You can cheer on schools like Columbia University, Fordham, St. John’s, Wagner College, Long Island University, and Manhattan College. Many of these schools even have free or low-cost games, making it easy to enjoy America’s pastime on a budget.

Other New York Cities That Made the Cut

New York City might take the crown, but several other spots in the state also made WalletHub’s list. Rochester ranked 33rd among midsize cities, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies came in 4th for small cities, with Buffalo, Syracuse, Fishkill, Lewiston, and West Point all landing on the list too.

Baseball Is Still Big in the Empire State

From Yankee Stadium to small town diamonds like Mirabito Stadium, New York’s baseball spirit runs deep. There’s no shortage of places across the Empire State to root, root, root for the home team.
