The Binghamton Rumble Ponies kicked off a six game road series in Reading last night with a much-needed win, but the big story was a no hitter from the pitching staff.

Although it was the second consecutive win in a struggling season start for Binghamton, that real story was the Ponies bull pen.

Josh Walker started the game and pitched six innings giving up only a walk, no hits and striking out four batters.

Reliver Andrew Mitchell came in and completed the game with three perfect innings included one strike out, giving the Binghamton Rumble Ponies a no hitter in a 2-0 victory.

Mark Vientos (2-4) and Will Toffey (2-4) each had an RBI in the shutout victory over the Reading Fightin Phils (15-28)

Last night’s pitching performance is a promising sign of an improving team.

The win moved the Ponies (13-28) out of the cellar in the Northeast division a game ahead of Harford.

Game two of the six game series continues tonight in Reading with a 7:05p start

The Rumble Ponies will follow this six game series with another six game road matchup in Richmond to take on the Flying Squirrels.
