Letitia James says there is widespread concern that MeToo Kits Company and Preserve Group have been marketing their systems as an alternative to seeking professional medical care.  According to the A.G.’s office, the companies implied that evidence collected by the kits would be admissible in court.

By law, New York State provides sexual assault exams and evidence collection at no charge.

James said “it is misleading for a company to profit from selling these kits when an above-board service is provided free of charge.”

If you or someone you know has been sexually assaulted, you can contact the Crime Victims Assistance Center in Binghamton at (607) 722-4245 office or get information from the New York State Coalition Against Sexual Assault at www.nyscasa.org/get-help or by calling 1-800-942-6906.
