More nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists and other health care professionals are making the trek from Central New York and the Southern Tier to the hard-hit coronavirus hot-spots downstate.

This week, New York State Police, Law Enforcement and Emergency Services vehicles escorted a procession of vehicles from Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse through the Southern Tier on their way to the relief effort.

A posting on the New York State Police Facebook feed says this was a second wave of nurses and healthcare workers traveling from Syracuse to offer their skills in New York City, Long Island and other hot-spots downstate.

The State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit in Homer, Cortland Police, Village of Homer Police, Homer Fire Department, TLC Ambulance and Troopers from the Traffic Incident Management team in Broome County participated in the procession on Interstate 81.
