This is Heart Disease and Heart Disease Awareness month. You may have noticed that the website is red and there are places on the website that you can click on to find out more.

My daughter Tara's school is also doing their part to bring attention to this disease. Every year the physical education teachers at Port Dickinson elementary (her school) partner with the American Heart Association for a program called Jump Rope for Heart.  It helps bring awareness to heart disease and heart defects and teaches the kids the importance of a healthy, active life style while promoting the act of charity and raising money for kids whose heart may not work like hers.  The gym teachers, Kevin Novotny and Keith Hayes are offering extra motivation and have offered to bring lunch to the winner from the restaurant of their choice.

The money that is raised helps fund new medicines and treatments to be discovered.  Tara, and all the kids, get very excited about this event which culminates with everyone jumping rope.  If you’d like to find out more about this program and find out how you can help click here.
If your group or organization is doing something to help make people aware of Heart Disease, please let me know.  I would love to pass it along as well.
