Zumba is more than a fitness craze.  Starting in the early 1990's, Zumba combines dance and aerobics, a full-body workout that is popular with all ages, males and females at all fitness levels.  Over 15 million people in 175 counties do Zumba on a regular basis because it feels good and is very good for you. Just ask my 80-something year-old neighbor Joyce, who loves to join her daughter Patty, at her Zumba class in Vestal.

OrganicFacts.net lists some of the many health benefits of doing Zumba on a regular basis, including: improves posture and flexibility, increases coordination, reduces anxiety, promotes endurance, boosts confidence, and burns calories and fat, big time. In fact, Healthline reports that a 39 minute Zumba class burns 9.5 calories a minute or 369 calories a pop. Could you afford to lose 369 calories while having fun with your friends and family?  Thought so.

You'll have the chance to experience all the Zumba fun out this Saturday (October 22) at the Fun & Dance Studio, 233 Vestal Parkway East, across from the Skylark, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.  This group of dedicated Zumba-airs, will be raising money for the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Stop by, bid on a basket, enjoy refreshments and see what Zumba is all about, while helping this great cause.
