It was 13 years ago this week that Garth Brooks joined the New York Mets.  Yeah- that Garth Brooks.  Do you remember?

In 2000, The Mets reached an agreement with Garth Brooks, allowing the country singer to participate in spring training with New York. At the time, Mets general manager Ateve Phillips said:

``We are part of the entertainment industry, and I think this will add some excitement to our spring,'' . ``I don't know what sort of impact it will have on crowds, but it will add excitement.''

Garth, who considered training with the New York Yankees, the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies, wanted to train in Florida instead of Arizona and that's how he ended up with the Mets. The spring before he trained with the San Diego Padres.

Garth joined the Mets to raise money for his Touch 'em All Foundation that gave $1.8 million to children's charities in 1999.

Can you believe it's almost baseball season again?  Are you ready ?  What's your favorite team?
