It's the first full week of Spring and that means that it's time for the snow to go away and time for the dirt to fly...at Five Mile Point Speedway. It's been a busy off season with track renovations and you can see some of the improvements beginning tonight (3/27).

Five Mile is hosting a testing and tuning session beginning at 5:30pm. Everyone is welcome to the grandstand free of charge with a donation of a non-perishable food item to benefit area food pantries.

If you forget on the way to the track, just stop by Schneiders at the bottom of the hill. That'll make everyone in the community happy.

Then on Saturday, it'll be the season opener for the 68th consecutive season. The racing begins at 5pm and again this year, kids 12 years old and younger are admitted FREE of charge to this race....and every race this season.

The regional touring race for both the Xcell 600 Modifieds have teams coming from New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania along with our local talent taking to the track. The "Tommy Boy 20" annual Factory Stock opener will be joined by the Street Stocks and Front Wheel Drive Four Cylinders.

With it's renovations, many teams are calling Five Mile Point Speedway home this season and it all begins this Saturday. Go here for more info and to keep up with any updates.

Racing begins at 5pm and if you're trying to find it on your GPS, Five Mile Point is located at 100 Frances Street in Kirkwood.

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE: Due to oversaturated grounds, the season opener will now be held next Sunday, April 8th.  An open practice will still be held this Saturday, March 31st for the race teams between 2 and 5 p.m.

Fans can check out the practice with the donation of a non-perishable food time to benefit CHOW.   Racing on next Sunday will begin at 3:30 pm.
