Why Returning Shopping Carts Matters More Than You Think

My daughter, Tara works at Price Chopper, 12A in Chenango Bridge. Recently I was sitting in the parking lot waiting to take her home and I was watching people come and go. I observed what they were doing with their grocery carts.

The vast majority of people put the carts in the cart corral, some would take it all the way back to the store and I saw one person just leave it near their vehicle. It was a great way to pass the time while waiting for Tara to arrive.

Did you know that the shopping cart can tell the possible character of a person? As they say, "character is how you act when no one is around or watching."

Returning a shopping cart is easy and the right thing to do. It's not illegal to abandon your shopping cart and no one will punish you for not returning it. You gain nothing by returning the shopping cart, so you return it out of the goodness of your own heart.

I realize that there are exceptions to every rule and it applies here too. You may have left the cart by your vehicle because you have kids in the car or you really really need to use your bathroom and you didn't want to use the one at the store (it's out of order or coronavirus concerns.)

Who knew that the shopping cart had such power to determine what kind of person you are. I'm not judging and I don't think less of you (I need to worry about me a lot more than you) but what kind of shopping cart person are you?
