May is here and it's time to celebrate...celebrate the couples that you know on "Couples Appreciation Day. It's also a day to celebrate your partner and all the good things they do. Never has the term "for better or worse" been more true than during the coronavirus pandemic.

Couples are spending a lot more time together while the world is on pause. They are learning more and more about each other...for better or worse. Some couples that were thinking about getting married have come to realize that might not be the best idea. At least you get to keep half of your stuff.

Other couples are growing closer together and learning things about each other that they might not have found out otherwise. If that's you, I say "congratulations, you are the lucky ones."

There is another way to celebrate today and that is to show your appreciation to a couple that has had a positive impact on your life. For that, I honor my parents, Carl and Donna Pitcher.

They gave me a solid Christian upbringing and they didn't talk the talk, they walk the walk. They show each other love and respect and my shortcomings are not their fault. Thank you, Mom and Dad...or as I call them Masquaw and Pops.

Finally, I have this to say to couples that are struggling during this difficult time. You've heard the saying that "the grass is greener on the other side." Here's another saying you could try, "The grass is greener where you water it."

What couples do you appreciate today?
