With all the scary news from Dayton and El Paso, it's nice to have some good news to pass along. Tonight is "National Night Out" and you are invited to join in.

The first Tuesday in August is "National Night Out" except in Texas when they do it on the first Tuesday in October. Events will be held throughout the country in over 16,000 communities including our area. This events is designed to:

  • 1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
  • 2) Generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts.
  • 3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
  • 4) Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Tonight, the Endwell United Methodist Church, surrounding businesses and the neighborhood community is having their 4th annual National Night Out event from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

This is one of the largest Night Out events in the area and brings together hundreds of neighbors and first responders from the area. Endwell State Police, Endwell Fire Department, Broome County Sheriff and Union Volunteer Emergency Squad will be on hand with displays and vehicles.

Food, drinks, games, prizes along with live demonstrations and information will be there. The Ross Park Zoo Mobile, the Twin Tier Mustang Club and the Southern Tier Cheesesteak Company food truck will have additional food for the event.

The event is being held at the Endwell United Methodist Church Grounds, 3301 Watson Boulevard, and the surrounding neighborhood. There are many National Night Out celebrations in the area including Binghamton.

The weather looks good, so celebrate a NIGHT OUT and head to Endwell this evening.
