Broome County Food Drive Shatters Collection Record
It really is a shame that the Binghamton area is often cast in a bad light because I what I saw last week was something so beautiful that I simply don't have adequate words to express how amazing our community truly is.
From October 30th to November 6th, Townsquare Media Binghamton hosted the largest and longest running food drive to benefit CHOW and our community stepped up to the plate in a massive way.
Thanks to the generosity of businesses, individuals, organizations, and even politicians, we were collectively able to raise 6.6 tons of food to fill the bellies of neighbors in need this upcoming winter season. Prior to this year's food drive, the record amount raised was 8,010 pounds of food. This year, we collected 13,321 pounds of food (tripling the amount collected in 2016), raised $1,258 in cash and checks, and $222 in gift cards.
It is because of you, the members of our community and the unselfish love that you shared that CHOW will be able to feed those who are unable to feed themselves, including the 16,000 kids who rely on CHOW for two meals a day.
On behalf of everyone at Townsquare Media, thank you for being a beacon of light and for making a difference in this world that we live in!
