Baby Wipes Recalled Because of Bacterial Contamination
If you've got a little one, you'll definitely want to check your baby wipes because wipes sold at Walgreens, Sam's Club, Family Dollar and other retailers are under recall due to bacterial contamination- definitely not something to play around with.
The baby wipes were manufactured by Nutek Disposables, Inc., and sold at many major retailers.
The company says they tested their wipes for contamination after receiving a number of complaints from customers who noticed an unusual odor and discoloration. Some of the wipes tested positive for a bacteria called Burkholderia cepacia (B. cepacia).
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says the bacteria is normally harmless in healthy people, but may cause problems in those with weakened immune systems or chronic lung conditions including cystic fibrosis.
Nutek Disposables says some people have reported symptoms that include rash, irritation, gastrointestinal and respiratory problems, but it has not been confirmed whether these symptoms are related to the bacteria in the baby wipes.
The baby wipes were sold at several retailers including Diapers.com, Sam's Club, Walgreens, and Family Dollar stores under several different brand names:
Brand Name | Retailer |
Cuties | Internet/Various retailers |
Diapers.com | Diapers.com |
Femtex | Family Dollar |
Kidgets | Family Dollar |

The FDA says if you bought the recalled wipes, you can return them to where you bought them for a full refund. If you have any questions, you can call Nutek Disposables at 1-855-646-4351.
