Punxsutawney Phil may say that winter is still here but I disagree. Why? Because the Daytona 500 is this Sunday on Fox.

For the 2nd straight year, Bill Elliott's boy, Chase Elliott will be on the pole. He's the first driver ever to start on the pole in his first two Daytona 500 races. He'll be joined by Dale Earnhardt Jr., who missed 18 races last year due to a concussion.

How would you like to watch the race and help out a great cause? It's the 8th annual Daytona 500 Action and Auction at a new location, Brothers 2, Watson Boulevard in Endwell. It begins at noon this Sunday, February 26th and the Broome County Animal Care Council will host the event again this year.

The Council is a registered non-profit organization which receives no government funding and does not euthanize animals for population control.

The shelter is at 11 Washington Avenue, Endicott. Due to the dire need for cat food at the shelter, the Animal Care council would like you to bring an extra donation of cat food for their furry feline friends.

It's an all-you-can eat buffet and a huge selection of auction items and racing memorabilia will be on display, with silent and Chinese auctions taking place to benefit the Animal Care Council.

Live auctions will be limited to avoid interruption of the racing action. For directions and to find out more about this event, go here.

Let's get ready for some great racing....and a better cause.
