A couple of weeks ago, we learned that the new name for the Double-A Mets would be the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. Now we know a couple more new things. This time, it's the improvements to NYSEG Stadium.

They have announced a $2.5 million improvement project. It's the largest capital investment in the ballpark's history. It's designed to improve the fan experience. They are also upgrading the stadium infrastructure and to modernize operations.

The $2.5 million plan includes:

New Stadium Lighting: All 180 stadium lamps will be replaced on the eight existing support poles. That will meet Minor League Baseball standards.

New Bullpen and Batting Cage: The new batting cage will replace the underground setup which used to flood.

New Right Field Entrance Gate: The chain link fences will be turned into an open-air entrance. It'll have new ticket kiosks, lighting and more. It'll include a performance stage area for live music and a playground fun zone.

New Team Deck: It's a 144 person picnic party deck on the right field line. Hightop tables and covered seating will be available.

New Third Base Terrace: Picnic tables and terrace family seating on the third base line will replace the existing seats in Section 15 and 17. It'll let families and smaller groups enjoy a comfortable and conversational place to enjoy the ballgame.

The plan also includes improvements to the clubhouse, office, skybox facilities and to groundskeeping.

$2 million was secured in grant funds through the State and Municipal Facilities Program of the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York. The other $500,000 is coming from the Rumble Ponies owner John Hughes and Evans St. Baseball.

Work is to begin immediately and should be complete by Opening Day, April 13th, 2017. Let's get ready to rumble to Rumble Town with your Rumble Ponies.

You may not have been a fan of the new name but you'll definitely love the improvements at the stadium
