I'm a big believer in supporting those who make the choice to selflessly give of themselves to serve our nation and protect our freedoms through the United States military and today, I'm especially happy to share news about one of our own community members who has graduated from basic training and is advancing his military career.

United States Air Force Airman 1st Class Thomas J. Fuimo III, a 2017 graduate of Windsor Central High School in Windsor, has graduated from basic military training at the Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Texas.

Airman Fuimo successfully completed a very intense eight-week program which included training in military discipline and studies. The program also covered Air Force core values and physical fitness, as well as basic warfare principles and skills. Completion of basic training is required in order for a person to become an enlisted Airman in the United States Air Force.

As part of his completion of basic training, Airman Fuimo has also earned four credits toward an associate degree in applied science through the Community College of the Air Force.

I'd like to personally extend my congratulations to Airman Fuimo for his successful completion of basic training and express my gratitude to him for his decision to protect and serve.
