The Rumble Ponies suffered their fifth straight loss as they fell 2-1 to the Hartford Yard Goats on August 17. On August 18, Binghamton viewed this game as a must-win to avoid the series sweep.

The Yard Goats would strike first in the top of the second as Mylz Jones singled on a line drive to center field to bring in Colton Welker. Scott Burcham's double would send home Bret BoswellMoving ahead to the top of the third, Jones would hit an RBI double, scoring both Welker and Boswell to make it a 4-0 lead for Hartford after three. 

Going forward to the top of the fifth, it was Jones with a three-run blast to left field. This allowed Alan Trejo and Tyler Nevin to cross home plate. It was 7-0 Yard Goats after five.

Another Yard Goat homered in the top of the seventh. Boswell's solo shot to right field put Hartford on top 8-0. But the Rumble Ponies managed to get on the board in the bottom of the inning. Michael Paez grounded out to first to score Luis Carpio. It was an 8-1 lead for Hartford after seven.

Binghamton wasn't able to make any headway on the lead in the final two innings, and so they fell by the final score of 8-1. The Yard Goats sweep the series, making it the sixth straight loss overall for the Rumble Ponies. With a 60-64 record, the team will head out to Bowie to play a three-game series against the Baysox in hopes of putting some games in the win column. The first game is scheduled for August 19 with a start time of 7:05 P.M.
