New York State Police say three State Department of Transportation workers are recovering from minor injuries after their D.O.T. truck was rear-ended by another vehicle in Delaware County.

Troopers say the workers were retrieving cones in a work zone on Route 28 in Andes shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 28 when the 43-year-old man driving a vehicle behind the D.O.T. truck failed to notice the government vehicle had stopped and rammed into it.

Authorities say the 53-year-old driver of the D.O.T. truck suffered a shoulder injury, a passenger in the road-works truck wasn’t hurt but two other transportation department workers, who had just stepped out to pick up the cones, suffered minor injuries as they jumped over a guide-rail to get out of the way.

A 27-year-old man was taken to O’Connor Hospital for treatment of a cut to the arm while the other worker, a 24-year-old man suffered a knee injury but was not transported by ambulance.

Authorities say impairment was not a factor in the crash.

Troopers have not released the names of any of those involved or said if any charges are being filed.
