From the years 2018 to 2022, New York State saw around 150 fatal crashes during the Valentine’s Day celebrations, making up of over 3% of all accidents. On February 14th itself, the state witnessed around 13 crashes, with a crash rate of 0.262%.

West Virginia takes the crown for being the most dangerous state for Valentine’s Day travel. With an average of 44 fatal crashes from Feb 7th-21st period and a crash rate of 3.47%, they’re not winning any safe-driver awards anytime soon. On Valentine's Day, this state sees 5 crashes with a 0.393% crash rate.
