NY 17C Lane Closures Hit Endicott Starting August 31

If you drive through the Village of Endicott on a regular basis, you already know that stretch of 17C by the McDonald's between Harrison and Vestal Avenues can get a little jammed up from time to time. Starting Monday, it's about to get a little more complicated.

The New York State Department of Transportation has announced lane closures on NY 17C in the Village of Endicott, Broome County, beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, August 31. Crews will be out doing maintenance, paving, and patching potholes along the road.

NY 17C Lane Closures: What Drivers Can Expect

Weather permitting, the eastbound and westbound right lanes will close on alternating days, running from the McDonald's near Harrison and Vestal Avenues down to Nanticoke Avenue. At least one lane will stay open in each direction throughout the paving work, so you won't be shut out completely, but expect to slow down and possibly wait. Flaggers will be directing traffic through the work zone, so keep an eye out for workers on the road.

The work is scheduled to run through the evening of Tuesday, September 1. That gives crews about two days to get through the paving and pothole repairs before traffic patterns return to normal.

Drivers are asked to plan ahead, build in extra time, and use caution while passing through the zone. Flaggers will be on site directing traffic, and narrow lanes mean less room for error, so give the crew space and keep your speed down.
