It's National Sleep Awareness Week and it begins on Monday, March 15th with National Napping Day and ends with World Sleep Day on Friday, March 19th. National Sleep Awareness Week began in 1998 by the National Sleep Foundation because we weren't aware of sleep before that.

I AM aware that I lost an hour of sleep on Sunday when the clock sprung ahead and I was aware that I didn't want to get up this morning because my body said that it was 2:15 a.m.

I don't know about you but in the last 12 months, I've had the weirdest pandemic dreams. I would wake up in a bad mood and I didn't know why. I couldn't even recall exactly what I was dreaming about but it wasn't good.

Part of my problem is that my mind would race when I would lay down and would keep going throughout the night. It was taking me on a trip that was going nowhere good and it was in the fast lane. How about you?

Well, the National Sleep Foundation has come up with some better ways to help us sleep. I'll add what husbands think about these ideas.

Ways to sleep better

Drink milk before bedtime, milk contains substances that relax the body. The problem is that the Oreo cookie crumbs keep waking me up.

Do something dull before retiring, a little boredom goes a long way toward promoting sleep. If your wife is asleep when you come to bed, she may be telling you something.

Keep the bedroom cool and the bed warm. If it's the other way around, she might be giving you another hint.

Use your bed for only one thing: sleep. If she is following that rule too, then it's not a hint anymore. Are you sensing a pattern?

In all seriousness, if you are still having trouble sleeping, here are five things that can help get your body back on schedule. What helps you sleep at night?
