New York Is One of the Hardest Working States This Summer

Summer may be known for vacations, but plenty of New Yorkers are spending the season hard at work. A new study from Homebase ranked New York as one of the hardest working states during the summer as it came in third overall.

How New York Ranked

Homebase took a look at all 50 states and they used ten work-related factors. The company looked at work hours, overtime, job growth, changes in employment, and other signs of pressure on workers. New York ended up with a score of 60.1 out of 100, placing it third in the country.

Summer Means More Work

Across the country, they found out that jobs increased by about 9% from spring to summer. The number of hours that people work also goes up by about 10%. Around 30% of employees work overtime during the summer months. I think many of us can identify with those numbers.

Transportation Workers Are Busiest

According to the study, the transportation industry works more than any other industry during the summer. Transportation workers have the highest average number of work hours and overtime hours. About 56% work overtime during the season.
