This Family Is Walking To Help Fill the Bellies of Hungry Kids in Broome County
Most of us know where our next meal is going to come from. As a matter of fact, most of us moan and groan about how hard it is to do the whole "adulting' thing and stop what we're doing to cook dinner for our family.

Here's the thing though - if being troubled by the mundane task of figuring out what to make for dinner is our biggest problem, we've all got it pretty good.
Hunger is a massively big issue in Broome County, probably bigger than most even realize, and when I think about the one in four kids who will lay their little heads on their pillow tonight and cry because they're experiencing hunger pains because their household doesn't have enough food to properly feed them, my heart breaks.
No child should go to bed hungry. Not ever. Not anywhere and especially right here in our community where there are enough of us who have the means to make sure they don't.
For the second year, Broome County Council of Churches is hosting a virtual walk to benefit CHOW, the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse, a local non-profit which helps to feed the 1 in 7 individuals and 1 in 4 children in our community who don't have enough to eat.
My son and I are participating in the virtual CHOW walk because we feel passionate that no child should experience hunger and we have a goal to raise $100 by this Saturday, October 9. CHOW will be able to take that $100 and turn it into 500 complete meals and if you'd like to donate to our effort, you can do that here.
I'd also like to invite you to start collecting monetary donations and non-perishable food items from family, friends, and co-workers ahead of Townsquare Media's annual Food-a-Bago Food Drive to benefit Broome County CHOW.
Our Food-a-Bago Food Drive will be held from Monday, November 1 to Monday, November 8, 2021, in the parking lot of Weis Market on Upper Front Street in Binghamton. We'll be accepting donations between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday, November 1 through Friday, November 5, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, November 6 and 7, and from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Monday. November 8.
