My heart caught in my chest this morning when I opened an email from a Vestal mom who is hurting. The kind of hurt that sits heavy and doesn’t let go. Tiffany Harding wrote to me about the year she’s had, just trying to do right by her three-year-old son. And then she closed her message with a line that completely broke me, “Please, I am a desperate momma asking for your help.”

I sat there for a minute just staring at the screen, because I know that feeling. That moment when the weight of everything feels unbearable, and you’re not asking for a miracle anymore, just a lifeline. I’m only one person, but I kept thinking maybe together we could help ease a little bit of the struggle this family is carrying. After all, this is the season where we like to believe miracles still happen.

That Ache Every Mom Knows Too Well

If you’re a mom, you know that ache in your chest. The one that shows up when you can’t see a clear path forward, and you feel like the world is closing in. That’s why I want to share Tiffany’s story and the GoFundMe she started for her son, Jordan, in case you’re able to help another mom who is just trying to do right by her child.

Tiffany didn’t imagine she’d ever be here, asking strangers for help. Most of us don’t, but life has a way of humbling you when you least expect it.

When Jordan’s Needs Outpace What Insurance Can Cover

Jordan is three years old, sweet and loving, and he has severe autism. Tiffany explains that the services Jordan needs to grow and learn are incredibly expensive. Insurance helps, but it only goes so far, and anyone who has navigated special needs care knows how fast those limits are reached.

Group settings are overwhelming for him. After just ten minutes around other children, Jordan becomes so overstimulated that it can take hours for him to calm back down. He performs better with adults, especially in one-on-one situations, and in her gut, she knows that in-home tutoring is what he needs right now.

Not someday. Not eventually. Right now.

A Safe Place to Learn and a Mom Doing Everything She Can

Tiffany hopes to hire a tutor who can work with Jordan in their home, where he feels safe and supported and can actually focus. Her dream is simple. Help her son learn and grow at his own pace, then gently introduce more social experiences when he’s ready. But right now, she’s struggling just to give him that chance. “I am a mom that is drowning,” she writes. “I cry at night, not just for me, but for him.” That line stayed with me.

The Quiet Pain and Questions Many Parents Carry

Tiffany talks about the panic attacks, the constant questioning, and wondering what went wrong or what she could have done differently. She shares something that will hit especially hard for parents who understand this journey, “To the other parents out there who know what it’s like to have never heard your child say ‘I love you’… it does something to you internally.” If you’ve lived that reality, you know exactly what she means. She just wants the panic to stop. She wants to feel less helpless. But more than anything, she keeps trying because that’s what moms do.

Even the Smallest Acts of Kindness Can Change a Family’s Story

Any support means the world to this family. Truly. A few dollars. Sharing the link. Saying a quiet prayer for them. All of it counts. Your kindness could help Jordan get the care and attention he deserves and remind a mom who is barely keeping her head above water that she’s not alone. If you’re able to help through the GoFundMe, please know that what you’re doing might feel small to you, but to Tiffany and Jordan, it’s hope.
