Oh Boy! Travis Denning Comes To The Southern Tier And Here’s What Happened Next
By now, every country music lover in the Southern Tier has heard of Touch of Texas (TOT). They got their start in Norwich and added a second location in the Small Mall, Johnson City.
They took a break for a few years and came back strong in 2018. Their new location is in the Northgate Plaza on Upper Front Street in Binghamton. The first national country act was a relatively unknown artist by the name of Morgan Wallen...yes, that Morgan Wallen.
Since then, TOT has seen the likes of LoCash, Dylan Scott, Mitchell Tenpenny, and Joe Nichols, just to name a few. One great thing about country music artists is that they are down to earth and easy to talk to.
I've been fortunate enough to meet most of them and they were all tremendously gracious. On Saturday, January 14th, Travis Denning was the latest country star to come to town.
Travis Denning Performs At Touch of Texas
Over 800 people came out on a cold night to hear his biggest song. Denning has set the record for the slowest ascent to the #1 spot when "After a Few" reached the top after 65 weeks on the charts.
Denning was patiently waiting backstage before the show when I thought it would be a good time to get a picture with him. No one else was around so I had to try and take a selfie with him. I emphasize the word "try" because I'm not to great at it.
What happened next became the latest installment of "Oh Glenn" when it comes to my public life. I went to hit the picture button and I hit "video" instead and this is what happened:
Travis Denning Posing at Touch of Texas
WHOOPS! So thinking quickly, I tried to take another picture but in my haste, I still had the video running. Travis did what he could do to help but too late!
In the words from one of my best friends, "Someone take the camera away from that old man." They say that the third time is the charm...and in my case it was.
By the way, it's not the first (probably not the last) time that I messed something up. When I met Travis Tritt, I asked him how Rhonda was. Tritt responded "Who is Ronda?" I said "Your wife." He replied that his wife was Theresa.
I got Trace Adkins and Travis Tritt's wives names mixed up...OH GLENN! I'm looking forward to seeing Chase Rice on Thursday, April 6th and Easton Corbin on Friday, April 21st when they come to Touch of Texas.
Let's see what I can do next...OH GLENN! So, what do you need to know about Denning? Read on to learn more about this Georgia Boy.
If you didn't know, Travis Denning is considered one of the best guitarists in country music. Here are others that are on the list.
