Summer might be winding down, but the fun in and around Binghamton is as hot as ever. It looks like we've got another beautiful weekend ahead of us, so do yourself a favor- get out and enjoy it! Here are just a few of the fun things happening this weekend in the Southern Tier.

    The kids will be going back to school before you know it and they're not the only ones who need to prep for the school year. Teachers do, too! A class of students will give tips for teachers in a playful and humorous story time at Barnes and Nobles on the Vestal Parkway this Saturday, August 26th starting at 11am.

    Fine Arts Society of the Southern Tier Bookfair

    The Fine Arts Society of the Southern Tier is hosting a book fair at Barnes and Nobles on the Vestal Parkway this Saturday, August 26th starting at 10am. In addition to books for sale, there will also be henna art and other activities.

    Your little ones are invited to a day of fun at the vacation Bible school, being held at Vestal Center United Methodist Church, 478 West Hill Road in Vestal this Saturday, August 26th from 10am-5pm.

    Seniors Running and Walking Festival Seniors Running and Walking Festival

    The Seniors Running and Walking Festival is back on Monday, August 28th and is open to anyone 55 years or older. Get together with others your age to walk, run, or use a wheelchair as you exercise. Refreshments and socialization follows the exercise session.     Stephen Stills and Judy Collins

    You know the song "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes?" It was written by Stephen Stills (Buffalo Springfield, Crosby, Stills & Nash) about a woman named Judy Collins and now, 50-years later, the two will share the stage for the first time ever at the Anderson Center on Monday, August 28th from 8pm-10pm.     Binghamton Garlic Festival

    The Garlic Festival will be held this Saturday, August 26th at the American Civic Association,131 Front Street in Binghamton from 11am-6pm. This event is rain or shine. Admission will be charged, so be sure to bring cash.

    On Saturday, August 26th, Binghamton native and author Eric C Lindstrom will be at Barnes and Nobles on the Vestal Parkway from 2pm-4pm to sign his book The Skeptical Vegan.

    Health and Safety Fair

    The Broome County Health and Safety Fair happens on Saturday, August 28th from 10am-2pm at Weis Market on Conklin Ave., in Binghamton. There will be tons of giveaways such as school supplies, bicycle helmets, car seat checks, food and more! This event is free to attend.

    Celtic Music Fest

    Broome County Celtic Pipes & Drum Band and McGirk’s Irish Pub host the Broome County Celtic Music Festival this Saturday, August 26 at Chenango Commons.  Tickets are $10, FREE for kids under 12. You can buy tickets from any of the BCCPD Band Members or stop by McGirk’s Irish Pub.
