Binghamton suffered their third straight shutout loss on August 16 as they fell 7-0 to the Hartford Yard Goats. Hoping to rebound from their previous matchup, the Rumble Ponies became the Spiedies and looked for an offensive resurgence to return to their winning ways.

After an hour and a half rain delay, it took both teams a few innings to get settled in. It wasn't until the top of the seventh that a run was scored. Brian Serven with the RBI single to bring in Colton Welker gave Hartford the 1-0 lead.

The lead would increase once again in the top of the ninth. Bret Boswell popped one up to right that brought home Tyler Nevin. Yard Goats led 2-0 after eight and a half.

Binghamton finally showed some life in the bottom of the ninth as Michael Paez scored Gavin Cecchini on an RBI single. This broke a near 38 innings scoreless streak for the team. The Spiedies were in a position to possibly win the game. Two runners were in scoring position and they weren't able to bring them home. It was a gutwrenching loss as they fell 2-1.  The Rumble Ponies have now lost five straight games, causing their record to drop to 60-63 overall. The team will look to rally on August 18 and avoid the sweep. The game is slated to begin at 2:05 P.M.
