‘Sock Out Cancer’ Is PGA TOUR Champions Charity Of The Year
There is so much to love about the DICK'S Sporting Goods Open (DSGO)….on and off the golf course. On the course speaks for itself when the PGA TOUR Champions and the best golfers in the world over the age of 50 come to Endicott.
The players have commented many times on how much they love coming to our area and how supportive we are of them and the tournament. It's an event that many of us mark on our calendar as soon as the dates are announced.
Sock Out Cancer Named PGA Tour's Charity Of The Year
On Thursday, February 25th, the PGA TOUR Champions announced that "Sock Out Cancer" has been named the PGA Tour's 2022 Charity of the Year. "Sock Out Cancer" was created in 2017 and has distributed more than $1.3 million to participating hospital foundations and other charitable organizations.
In 2022, the first round of the DSGO was "Sock Out Cancer Awareness Day." Broome Community Charities presented "Birdies for Cancer" where people could pledge a donation for every birdie made for the cancer patients and I hope that they'll bring it back this year
For winning this award, Sock Out Cancer will get a $30,000 donation from the PGA TOUR Champions. The money will be sent to hospital foundations that identify eligible people in need of financial support for non-medical costs like transportation.
