Congratulations to former Binghamton Rumble Ponies player and current New York Met, Pete Alonso. On Monday, he did something that only two other players have done...He won the home run derby and set the home run derby record in the process.

Do you know who is really happy about this??? The fans of the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. More on that in a moment.

Alonso crushed the first-round record by hitting 35 home runs and made it look easy as he went on to hit 74 dingers and defeated Trey Mancini in the finals. Alonso was the third player to win back-to-back Home Run Derbys joining Ken Griffey Jr. and Yoenis Cespedes. Check out the highlight from the Home Run Derby below.

So how does this help the Binghamton Rumble Ponies? They had a "Dime a Dinger" promotion and for every home run that Alonso hit in the home run derby, they would take ten cents off the ticket price for any game from July 20th through July 22nd.

Binghamton Rumble Ponies "Dime a Dinger" Promotion

So that means that all tickets for those games will be reduced by $7.40. Go here to take advantage of this special and don't forget to come to Mirabito Park on Saturday, July 24th to celebrate his derby win with Pete Alonso Bobblehead Day. Okay, they were going to have it anyway but now the bobblehead will be more valuable.

By the way, Alonso's $1 million prize for winning the Derby is more than he is making ($676,775) for the entire 2021 season. Congratulations once again to Pete Alonso and we hope that you can match Ken Griffey Jr. and win your third title next year.
