Shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9, a suspect shot at a New York State Trooper in the Town of Colesville. The suspect fled from the scene and a manhunt has been underway since.
State Police believe that the suspect, Jason D. Johnson, is still in the area of East Windsor Road area near Thorn Hill in the town of Colesville and ask residents to remain alert. Afton, Harpursville, and Windsor School Districts have closed their physical buildings and activated full remote learning procedures for today, June 10.
Authorities say that Johnson is armed and dangerous and should not be approached under any circumstance. If he is seen, 911 should be called immediately.
None of us want to believe that we'll ever find ourselves in the middle of an active manhunt but the sad reality is that we all need to prepare ourselves and our family members for any and all types of scary situations.
