Local Yodel Legend Passes Away Over the Weekend
If you've been to a Binghamton Rumble Ponies or a Binghamton Rangers/Senators/Devils hockey game through the years then you may have heard of David "The "Yodler" Spence. He loves to yodel and play spoons from his seat.

Spence was a season ticket holder and you could see him in Section 13 at the Ponies game or Section 23 (kitty-corner from the Zamboni entrance) at the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena.
Sadly, he passed away on Friday, April 17th at the age of 95. In case you are wondering, he was tested for the coronavirus and it came back negative.
One of my favorite songs that's played at the hockey game is Cotton Eyed Joe by the Rednex. We play that song on Friday mornings to get everybody ready for the hockey games and the weekend.
When that song would come on at the hockey game, Dave would play his spoons against the back of the seat in front of him to make it even louder. We are dedicating Cotton Eyed Joe to him on Friday...and every Friday from now on.
Our prayers are with his family and he will be missed by all.
