I have my Lenten ashes today and now I have my list of Southern Tier churches and service organizations offering homemade Lenten food at some very reasonable prices. I try to do fish or pierogies every Wednesday and Friday from now through April 2nd, when Lent ends.   Together we are set for one great Lent ahead.

Saints Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, 200 Hill Ave in Endicott, is hosting a pirohi sale on Fridays through March 27th.  Advanced orders recommended. Call 785-0195 or 687-6429. Pick up is noon to 1:30 pm and 4:30 to 6 pm.

St. Anthony of Padua Church, 300 Odell Ave. in Endicott, is hosting Lenten fish dinners every Friday through March 27. Serving time is 4 to 6:30 pm. Take outs and drive through from 3 pm.

St. Michael’s, 296 Clinton Street in Binghamton, hosts a pirohi sale every Friday in Lent. Order potato or cabbage by calling 729-0261. Pick up is Thursdays 10 am to 5 pm and Fridays 10 to 11 am then 1:30 to 5 pm. Lunches served Fridays from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.

Sacred Heart Ukrainian Church, the wooden church on the hill in Johnson City, hosts Friday Lenten dinners.  Served 4:30 to 6:30 pm, they includes pirohi, halupki, homemade soup, or fish and dessert. To order take out, call 797-6294 Wednesday or Friday from 9 am to 2 pm.

The Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis Street in Endwell, hosts Lenten fish dinners through March 27th.  Serving time 3:30 to 7 pm or until they run out of fish. Dinners include: Baked/Fried Haddock or Shrimp, Macaroni & Cheese, Cole Slaw, Applesauce, Homemade Dessert.

Hillcrest American Legion Post 1194, 363 West Service Road in Binghamton, hosts a Friday Night Fish Fries every Friday in Lent beginning on Friday. Serving begins at 5 pm. Dine in or take out.

American Legion Post 86 in Susquehanna is hosting fish dinners every Friday night from 5 to 7 pm during Lent. All are welcome. Fried or baked fish and shrimp available!
