It's really sad that sometimes high energy shelter dogs have a hard time being adopted, but there's a new program that's found a way to put these energetic dogs to work in a way that benefits everyone.

Rescues 2the Rescue actually trains high-energy dogs to do jobs that benefit wildlife conservation. The dogs are trained to locate specific wildlife and plants, and can also identify threats like poisons and invasive plant species, which help preserve wildlife.

Rescues 2the Rescue hopes this training will also improve their chances of being adopted.

In an interview with the Christian Science Monitor,  Carson Barylak, campaigns officer for International Fund for Animal Welfare said,  “I certainly think that animals in shelters have a great deal to give. I hope we are saving lives, both of dogs and wildlife.”
