February is Heart Disease Awareness Month and to honor both children and adults with  congenital heart defects,  Mended Little Hearts of Binghamton is hosting their first ever InspiRed Hearts Gala, something they hope to turn into an annual event.

The InspiRed Hearts Gala will take place at the McKinley at the Huron Campus, 29 McKinley Avenue in Endicott from 6pm-10pm.

Amy Root's son, Elliott, was born with hypoplastic right heart syndrome. This means that the right side of his heart was underdeveloped and this means that Elliott has had to have countless surgeries through the years.

Amy started the Binghamton branch of Mended Little Hearts so that people in the greater Binghamton area would have a place to come together for help, hope and a shoulder to cry on if they needed that.

The mission of Mended Little Hearts is to increase awareness about childhood heart conditions, raise money for research and to connect families who have children with heart conditions with other families to offer support and a sense of hope for the future.

You can learn more about Mended Little Hears through their Facebook page or website.

On Saturday, Mended Little Hearts will honor those who've been affected by congenital heart defects with fabulous food, friendship and dancing as well as raffles and auction items.

This gala is open to the public and you can purchase tickets to attend here.
