Binghamton Families Invited to Free ADA Day Celebration at Otsiningo Park

Families from across the Southern Tier are invited to celebrate inclusion, accessibility, and community at a free event. Helping Celebrate Abilities (HCA) will have their 3rd Annual ADA Day Celebration on Friday, July 24th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the North Pavilion at Otsiningo Park.

A Fun, Free Event for the Whole Family

The celebration is free and open to everyone. You can enjoy games, crafts, face painting, snacks, scavenger hunts, and other activities for children and adults. Local organizations will also share information about programs and services that help support people with disabilities and their families.

Celebrating the Americans with Disabilities Act

The event honors the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), that was signed into law on July 26th, 1990. The ADA is a civil rights law that protects people with disabilities from discrimination in areas like employment, education, and transportation. More than 35 years later, it continues to play an important role in making communities more accessible and inclusive.

A Chance to Learn and Connect

ADA Day is a chance to celebrate the progress that has been made while recognizing there is still work to do to ensure everyone has equal access and opportunities. The event welcomes people with and without disabilities, along with families, community members, and local leaders.

Helping Celebrate Abilities has been serving the Southern Tier since 1947. The nonprofit provides programs and services for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including early intervention services, residential programs, employment support, counseling, and other resources.
