Being Kind Today and Everyday Can Make a Difference For Everyone

Today, February 17th is "National Random Acts of Kindness" Day. I love doing things seemingly out of nowhere and what a difference it makes in me. One of the things that I enjoy is the birthday parades that we've been doing since last April.

If you are celebrating a birthday/graduation/retirement and plan on having a parade for them, just let us know on the Hawk's Facebook Page. It's been a great way to meet people and hopefully bring some joy to their life.

I sing a special personalized "Happy Birthday" song with my horn and that seems to bring joy to the special person that we are honoring. Sometimes the joy is in the singing but more times than not, it's when I stop.

On Sunday, I was returning from a birthday parade for Katie when I drove by a bunch of girls holding up signs in the M&T parking lot, Hooper Road in Endwell. I drove by and I saw that it was a drive-through cookie booth for Girl Scout Troop 60111.

How can I resist that? They were selling girl scout cookies, so I did my part and helped them by buying several boxes of cookies. By the way, they told me that they would be there next Saturday and Sunday, February 20th and 21st. I told them that I would be back.

By the way, you are invited to stop by and visit them too. Tell them I sent you, I'm told they will give you the same deal they gave me...$5 dollars a box. Okay, that's the price even if you don't tell them I sent you.

It's things like this that put a smile on my face and I know they were smiling when I remembered to take my horn with me when I left. If you look at the picture, you'll see it was on the ground behind me and they didn't want it.

I helped out Troop 60111 and got to enjoy some Girl Scout Tagalongs. WIN-WIN!

Today (2/17) is "National Random Acts of Kindness" Day but if you do something random and kind every day, you'll be amazed how everyone's day gets better because of what you did.
