It's Opening Weekend at Watkins Glen International. It all starts today with the Green Grand Prix. It showcases motoring technology that aims for a cleaner environment.

It features the Doris Bovee Memorial Road Rally for drivers of alternate-fueled vehicles and hybrids as well as traditional gasoline and diesel powered vehicles. It's a two stage rally .

The 70 mile morning rally is open to all classes of vehicles. The afternoon stage is a 100 mile, fuel economy event on the Watkins Glen International Race course.

The rally honors the memory of Doris, who was a area environmentalist that taught in the area. She was also known for her love of plants and birds.

No admission is charged for this event and individuals, colleges and universities, car clubs and manufacturers are invited to attend.

It's also a celebration of the completion of a $12 million re-paving project. It's all part of the Opening weekend festivities. To see all the events going on this weekend, go here.
