Today is Veterans Day so here are five facts and figures you really should know.

1.  Veterans Day didn't start until 1954.  November 11th used to be Armistice Day, marking the anniversary of the end of World War One.  President Eisenhower is the one who changed it to Veterans Day so that veterans of ALL wars would be honored.

2.  There are about 22 million military veterans in the U.S., and 9% of them are women.

3.  The Vietnam War has the most living veterans with roughly 32%. The Gulf War has roughly 30%, the Korean War has about 9% and World War Two has about 5% living vets.

4.  There are no surviving U.S. World War One veterans.  Frank Buckles was the last surviving vet and he died in 2011 at the age of 110 years old.

5.  California, Texas and Florida have the largest percentage of veterans.
