Growing up in the 90s, "Hocus Pocus" was (still is) one of my favorite movies. Apparently, the movie wasn't filmed too far from here and you can visit!

Something about that movie was just creepy enough but still funny and enjoyable that I've even started my little cousins watching it. I had no idea that I could visit the house and pretend to be part of the movie! A lot of the time, movies aren't filmed exactly where the setting of the film is because it's too expensive. I assumed the same went for "Hocus Pocus," but thankfully, I was wrong!

If you live in Massachusetts or happen to be on your way out there and love "Hocus Pocus" as much as I do, you need to add these roadside attractions, broken down by Roadtrippers.com to your list!

  • Old Burial Hill Cemetery is where they found Billy “the butcher” Butcherson is in Marblehead, MA. Apparently, a lot of the nighttime scenes were filmed on a soundstage but they used this space for the daytime scenes.
  • Max and Dani Dennison's house is 8 Ocean Avenue in Beverly, MA. They used the exterior of the building for filming and apparently, as long as you don't trespass, the private owners don't mind you taking pictures.
  • Allison's house is The Ropes Mansion, which is currently operated by the Peabody Essex Museum and open to the public.

Are there any movie or television scenes you'd want to go visit? I may have to make an October trip out here to see if I can find the Sanderson sisters, as long as no one lights the black candle.
