Man Sentenced for Sexually Exploiting 3-Year-Old

A Cortland County man is to spend three decades in prison for conspiring with his wife to sexually exploit a three-year-old child five times in August and September of 2018 in order to create child pornography.

28-year-old Lawrence Berry of Marathon pleaded guilty in August to the abuse and was sentenced to 30 years in prison. Brittany Berry had earlier pleaded guilty to her role and is to be sentenced next month.

Prosecutors say the man directed Brittany Berry to sexually abuse the child on five different occasions, making videos and taking pictures of the crimes to send live and recorded to him over the internet.

In addition to 30 years in prison, Lawrence Berry is to serve 25 years on probation after release and will be required to register as a sex offender in any state where he lives, is employed or is a student.

Brittany Berry pleaded guilty in October of 2019 and could be sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison.
